As State Deputy of the Knights of Columbus of Quebec, I am pleased to welcome you to our web site.
Our Order was founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut, by a young priest named Michael J. McGivney, to render financial aid to members and their families.
Its first council in Canada was established in Montreal in 1897, when Council 284 Montreal was founded. After 111 years in Quebec, we are proud to report that there are now 569 councils with 104,000 members in good standing.
In the footsteps of our founder, we continue to help the needy of our society and to support our bishops and priests. The councils of the Province of Quebec have, during Columbian year 2007-2008, donated over $ 10,400,000.00 to various causes. In addition, our members have contributed more than 65 million hours as volunteers for a variety of organizations and charitable causes. Also this year, HémaQuébec has honoured us with the distinction of being the non-profit organization having held the greatest number of blood clinics in the province.
We are a recognized as an important mutual assistance organization and the leading organization of Catholic laymen. All Catholic men, age 18 or older, wishing to join our ranks to pursue our goal of helping the needy are welcome.
